First Full Day

Grands woke  up at 4:30 a.m., but did go back to bed for awhile. Wyatt wanted to go to the gym with Grandpa so John also decided to go so they left for the gym a little later and they all had a great workout. Sara made a great breakfast of eggs, bacon, toast, bananas and cereal after they returned.

As we left for the Scripps Aquarium around 10:00 there was a A little rain but it stopped before we arrived.  The aquarium is located in the University of California, San Diego in the La Jolla area. We spent a few hours looking at a lot of beautiful fish.  The view on the back side of the aquarium had a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean where we took a family picture and spent a little time.  They also had a play area that the kiddos enjoyed.

We were ready for a late lunch so with a grandpa detour to Torrey Pines for a photo we drove south looking for a lunch place.  Grandpa took us to the Pacific Beach Ale House for lunch where everyone rated their meal either a 9 or 10 out of 10.  Morgan especially loved her mac and cheese,  John enjoyed fish and chips and said it was the best he had ever eaten.  Wyatt rated his chicken fingers and fries a 9.  Grandma and Grandpa shared a huge cheeseburger and sweet potato fries and Sara had a chicken flatbread.  No lunch pictures due to lighting and server takes were not up to Grandmas standard.

After lunch John, Sara and kids walked down to the beach and dipped their feet in the water and ended up of course with really wet jeans and leggings but they came back all smiles. Grandpa got the van and Grandma surprised the grands with slushies.  Back to the condo and John, Wyatt and Morgan got their swimming suits on we quickly headed to the beach.  We arrived about 20 minutes before sunset and the kids loved actually getting into the ocean but John didn't stay very long due to the cold water.  We enjoyed watching the kids and took some really pretty sunset pictures.  Sunset in Carlsbad was at 4:45 so crazy early being on the west coast.

Back to the condo so the kids could go swimming in the big pool with Grandma and Sara supervising.  John and Jeff ran to the store to get a few things and then joined everyone at the pool.  We had a drag the kids out of pool as they were having so much fun some kids they met. Back to the condo for really great hot ham/pepperoni and cheese sandwiches that Sara made.  Kids crashed right after dinner
